Glück Ziel Productions got its name from the 2007 team. Members were asked to submit a suggestion. Here's Rob's email announcing the winner:

We have a new team name. Thank you all for your excellent entries. They included:

  • Fire Swamp Pictures [a Princess Bride allusion, from René]
  • punchdrunk productions ["which is what we're going to be after the 48 hrs," wrote Ashley]
  • Warm and Fuzzy Pictures [from Tony]
  • Glück Ziel Productions [German for "luck" and "intention," which Monika says we must and will have to win]
  • Alls to the Walls Productions [from Kahil]
  • LCA INK [Life, Camera, Action, from Duncan]
  • KARPEDIUM ["with a 'K' just to add an abstract effect," wrote Alan]
  • Modeled Dog Productions [from Logan]

The judge, my 4-year-old daughter Maya, said this was a very difficult decision, as she liked all of the entries very much and thought that each would make an excellent team name. She encourages the runners-up (she doesn't like to say "losers") to copyright their names for future use.

Her choice for our team name is.... Glück Ziel Productions.

She said she likes the international flair, as well as the interesting philosophical dimensions of "luck" versus "intention." (Is the universe random? Do we really have free will? She's not sure yet.)

In addition, Maya thought some of the less sophisticated among us (like her Dad) might have fun with the word "Gluck."

So there you have it, team. We are Glück Ziel. Be proud.
